Pets and the Pandemic: a social research snapshot of pets and people in the COVID-19 era

Animal Medicines Australia say pet ownership is now at record levels in Australia.
This research reports the increase in pet ownership in Australia, including dogs, from 5.1 millIon in 2019 to 6.34 million in 2021!

A fifth (19%) of all pet dogs in Australia have been procured during the pandemic—divided equally between new owners and experienced dog owners.

Their research shows the early anecdotal reports accurately reflect the biggest boom Australia has seen in pet ownership.
